Job summary

Clear Creek County in Colorado seeks a Senior Accountant to apply broad accounting knowledge to financial reporting, grant accounting, and payroll under the Finance Director. You will oversee the General Ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, and audits, and provide technical guidance on governmental accounting and payroll compliance.

The role supports the annual audit, coordinates with department staff, vendors, and the public, and helps develop accounting policies.

Qualifications

• CPA license or degree in Accounting/Finance with experience
• Experience with GAAP and GASB applicable to government
• Strong payroll processing and tax reporting knowledge
• Proficiency with financial reporting and ERP systems
• Experience supporting audits and grant compliance

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports reflecting the County’s condition.
• Oversee General Ledger, journal entries, month-end close, and reconciliations.
• Manage grant accounting from award through closeout and prepare SEFA schedules.
• Process payrolls and file payroll tax returns; maintain confidential payroll records.
• Support annual and single audits and assist with the ACFR in GAAP compliance.
