You will guide staff, manage budgets, and collaborate with internal departments and vendors to align procurement with city goals.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and risk management skills, with experience in public sector procurement and a knack for strategic planning and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field with procurement experience.
• Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO), Certified Purchasing Manager, or NIGP-CPP is desirable.
• Knowledge of municipal accounting, finance administration practices and internal control systems is preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of governmental procurement and supply-chain management.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train staff, interview, hire, and evaluate employees.
• Plan and direct division activities to ensure compliance with policies and laws.
• Develop and monitor procurement processes and reporting systems.
• Review contracts and ensure best value procurements and competition.
• Represent the division to other departments and external vendors.
• Ensure transparent, ethical purchasing practices and maintain vendor relations.
