Job summary

Town of Cary is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, administer, monitor, and support the enterprise network across facilities, data centers, remote sites, and cloud environments.

The ideal candidate will ensure secure, highly available connectivity, work with security teams, and contribute across adjacent domains like server administration, Microsoft 365, unified communications, and incident response. This is a full-time, on-site role with on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in network engineering/administration.
• CCNA/CCENT/CCNP certification required; must obtain within six months if not held.
• Experience with enterprise network design, routing, switching, firewall, and security.
• Ability to work on-site, on-call, and support after-hours.

Responsibilities

• Designs, configures, implements, administers, and supports enterprise network infrastructure.
• Cloud/hybrid network infra in Azure and AWS with VNet/VPC and SD-WAN.
• Monitor performance, availability, and capacity; identify issues and fix.
• Troubleshoot network incidents and outages.
• Collaborate with IT teams and external vendors for operations.
• Administer network security controls with firewall rules and VLANs.
• Maintain network diagrams and inventories.
• Support Microsoft 365 and Unified Communications (Webex).
• Participate in maintenance, patching, DR planning, and on-call rotations.
