Job summary

Town of Cary is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and support the enterprise network across town facilities, data centers, and cloud environments. You will work with security and infrastructure teams to ensure secure, highly available connectivity.

The role requires hands-on experience with routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, wireless systems, and cloud networking in Azure and AWS. A bachelor’s degree and 3+ years in network engineering are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in network engineering or administration.
• CCNA/CCENT or CompTIA Network+ required; certification within six months of start date.

Responsibilities

• Designs, configures, implements, administers, and supports the Town’s enterprise network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers).
• Designs, implements cloud and hybrid network infrastructure in Azure and/or AWS.
• Monitors performance, investigates anomalies, and recommends actions.
• Provides advanced troubleshooting for network incidents and outages.
• Maintains network diagrams, inventories, and documentation.
