Job summary

Savannah Technical College seeks a customer-focused Human Resources Specialist to support recruitment, onboarding, benefits, and compliance. This role provides guidance on policies while ensuring federal and state law adherence and accurate HRIS data management.

Qualifications

• Requires a HR diploma and 1 year of related HR experience.
• Strong knowledge of federal/state employment laws.
• Experience with HRIS, benefits, FMLA, ADA accommodations.
• Excellent communication and customer service.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional HR support and exceptional service to employees, supervisors, and applicants.
• Coordinate recruitment activities including postings, screening, interviews, and pre-employment requirements.
• Coordinate onboarding and orientation for a positive experience.
• Process personnel actions and maintain HRIS records.
• Assist with benefits administration and enrollment processes.
• Administer leave programs including FMLA, ADA, workers’ comp, and military leave.
• Explain HR policies and employment regulations to staff and supervisors.
• Support employee relations, conduct documentation, and guidance to managers.
• Assist with performance management and disciplinary processes with proper records.
• Maintain personnel files and retention compliance.
• Compile HR reports, perform audits, and support compliance reporting.
• Assist with recognition, wellness, and professional development initiatives.
