Job summary

Albemarle County's Department of Human Resources seeks an experienced HR Generalist to support day-to-day operations across multiple County departments. You will advise on recruitment/selection, onboarding, performance management, benefits, leave administration, and employee relations, serving as a central point of contact.

The role offers telework options under the County's remote work policy with a requirement to reside in Virginia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HRM, Business Admin, Public Admin or related field with 2 years HR Generalist experience.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience considered; two years of related experience per missing year.
• Preferred: Master’s degree and IPMA-HR/HRCI/SHRM certification.

Responsibilities

• Advise departments on recruitment/selection, onboarding, performance management and benefits.
• Handle leave administration, employee relations, and pay changes.
• Provide guidance on policies to ensure compliance with laws and internal rules.
• Produce reports, create templates, and participate in cross-functional teams.
