Job summary

Cabarrus County Government is seeking a strategic and experienced Human Resources Director to lead the County’s comprehensive HR program. The role reports to the County Manager and serves as a trusted advisor to County leadership, shaping people, policies, and practices for effective public service.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or equivalent in HR-related field.
5–7 years of progressively responsible HR experience.
Public-sector or local government HR experience preferred.
Experience advising executive leadership on personnel matters.
Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.

Responsibilities

Plan, direct and coordinate the County’s HR program and staff.
Advise County leadership on personnel matters and policies.
Oversee recruitment, classification & compensation, benefits, training and policy development.
Ensure regulatory compliance across local, state and federal standards.
Represent the County in regional/state HR programs and discussions.
Lead organizational development and employee relations initiatives.
