Job summary

The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a Human Resources Associate in Lawrence County to receive, log, prepare and submit CMS-2 personnel transactions, maintain workers’ compensation files, and assist with retirement and group insurance tasks. This salaried role includes maintaining electronic personnel databases and acting as receptionist.

Minimum qualifications include two years of college or approved training and 30 wpm keyboarding.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
• Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 words per minute.
• Prefers at least one year of paraprofessional experience in a human resources field.
• Prefers at least one year of paraprofessional experience explaining human resources related topics to others.
• Prefers at least one year of paraprofessional experience managing a confidential human resources workload.
• Prefers at least one year of paraprofessional experience processing retirement documents.
• Prefers at least one year of paraprofessional experience processing insurance forms.

Responsibilities

• Receives, logs, prepares, and submits CMS-2 personnel transactions.
• Creates and maintains Worker’s Compensation files.
• Assists with submission of Group Insurance transactions to IDOC central office.
• Keyboards memos and correspondence in response to employee inquiries regarding personnel processes and procedures.
• Assists the Retirement Coordinator and employees with retirement concerns and paperwork.
• Establishes and maintains an electronic database of personnel information.
• Serves as receptionist.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
