Job summary

The City of Indianapolis and Marion County is seeking a budget analyst to analyze and monitor the department's budget through invoice payment and tracking. You will work with accounting databases, respond to internal and external requests, and assist with developing and updating financial reports.

Required is a Bachelor's in public finance/administration or related fields, with a Master’s preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and mainframe software is expected, along

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in public finance, administration, accounting or related fields.
• Master’s degree preferred but not required.
• Ability to present complex data clearly in small groups and public meetings.

Responsibilities

• Prepares vouchers, requisitions and purchase orders in PeopleSoft and submits to Accounts Payable.
• Investigates invoices for accuracy and assigns accounting codes as needed.
• Responds to accounts payable questions and resolves issues.
• Notifies staff and vendors about problems and concerns.
• Processes employee reimbursements and supports finance projects.
• Supports front office operations and cross-training.
• Maintains accounts payable files and updated spreadsheets.
• Monitors contractor payments and ensures timely deposits and reporting.
• Reviews actual expenses versus budget per CFO, and updates monthly reports.
• Coordinates department-wide finance issues with other staff.
