Job summary

Tazewell County is seeking an Accounting Analyst in Pekin, IL, to support the Finance Department with budgeting, audit, purchasing, accounts payable, and fixed assets. The role involves preparing journal entries, assisting with the annual budget, and ensuring compliance with county, state, and federal policies.

Under the Finance Director, you’ll analyze revenues and expenditures, prepare ACFR support materials, and collaborate with department heads to resolve financial questions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university.
• 2 years' accounting experience; GAAP knowledge preferred.
• Experience in government finance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day operations of the Finance Department.
• Provide guidance to department heads on financial questions and analysis.
• Prepare materials for County Board agendas and attend meetings.
• Assist with external audit; prepare work papers and journal entries.
• Support annual ACFR preparation and GAAP compliance.
• Conduct financial analysis and forecasting against budget amounts.
