Job summary

Tarrant County is seeking a Governance & Performance Analyst (Levels I–IV) to support the Budget and Risk Management Department in planning, preparation, analysis, and oversight of county budgets. Depending on level, the role ranges from entry‑level budget work to senior analysis, cross‑department coordination, and project leadership.

Analysts contribute to support for departments, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with county policy and budgetary guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field as listed; levels vary by experience.
• Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and public administration preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and data interpretation ability.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, evaluating, and monitoring departmental and countywide budgets.
• Review budget requests for accuracy and alignment with objectives.
• Monitor expenditures, identify variances, and provide corrective recommendations.
• Prepare recurring and ad-hoc budget reports and data analyses for leadership.
• Estimate program costs, forecast revenues, and support financial planning efforts.
• Analyze accounting data to determine funding needs for programs; higher levels may lead analyses.
