Job summary

Southwest Florida Water Management District seeks an Accounting Supervisor to lead a team of accounting professionals, directing daily operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining internal controls. The role collaborates with the Accounting Manager and supports ACFR, month-end close, and governance processes.

Hybrid on-site/off-site work is available with Florida residency required. Strong knowledge of GASB, pension/OPEB reporting, and self-funded medical plan accounting is

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
• Six years of related work experience with two years of supervisory experience.
• Masters degree and CPA/CGFO preferred for advancement.
• Experience with GASB reporting requirements and financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily operational leadership to a team of accountants and support staff.
• Review and approve transactions, reconciliations, and financial reports for accuracy.
• Coordinate cashiering operations and support a hybrid on-site/remote work model.
• Contribute to ACFR, month-end and year-end closes and internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with GASB, Auditor General Rules, and district policies.
• Support treasury activities, cross-system data reconciliation, and process improvements.
