Job summary

Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking an Accounting Manager with significant governmental accounting experience. The selected candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of financial and managerial accounting concepts and possess strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities include reviewing accounting entries, closing the County's fiscal year, preparing year-end schedules for audits, implementing GASB pronouncements, reviewing

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field; or Bachelor’s degree with CPA Examination coursework.
• Proven experience in governmental accounting, auditing, or closely related field; including supervisory experience and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and direct quarterly and annual financial statements; manage staff to ensure deadlines and compliance.
• Supervise general ledger maintenance, month-end close, and adjusting entries across funds.
• Coordinate audits with external firms and serve as primary liaison with auditors.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and GASB pronouncements; supervise revenue and billing activities.
