Job summary

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking an Accounting Supervisor in the Accounting Division to lead financial operations, ensure GAAP compliance, and oversee asset management for governmental funds. The role requires a strong background in capitalization, inventory processes, and high-volume data analysis.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (or CPA-related coursework) and at least three years in governmental accounting, including supervisory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (or coursework qualifying for the CPA Examination).
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in governmental accounting, including one (1) year supervising staff.
• CPA certification preferred; CPA coursework or active pursuit.
• Experience with fixed asset accounting in government settings and with enterprise funds is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitors County contracts for compliance with terms and provisions; processes charges and penalties for non-compliance.
• Manages and directs revenue collection activities.
• Ensures County accounting is performed per prescribed standards and regulations.
• Develops and maintains complex rate configurations in computerized accounting systems.
• Liaises with County customers to explain tariffs and apply contract terms; processes requests and credits.
• Directs staff in analyzing data and providing financial information to support negotiations and decisions.
• Performs related work as assigned.
