Job summary

The Southwest Florida Water Management District in Brooksville, FL is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to lead a team of accounting professionals and ensure accurate financial reporting in a hybrid on-site/remote work model.

Responsibilities include supervising daily workflow, month-end close, and compliance with GASB and District policies. A Bachelor's degree and significant supervisory accounting experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.
• Six years of related work experience is required.
• Two years of supervisory experience is required.
• Masters degree is preferred or required for high-level positions.
• Eight years of related work experience is a plus.
• Four years of supervisory experience is required.
• CPA or CGFO is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily operational leadership for accounting professionals.
• Review and approve accounting transactions and financial reports.
• Coordinate cashiering operations in a hybrid work environment.
• Support preparation of ACFR, month-end and year-end closes.
• Develop internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
• Support GASB reporting (leases, pensions, OPEB) and related areas.
• Collaborate with auditors and departments on financial processes.
