Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Field Chief Technology Officer for the Public Sector to lead executive-level technology and mission transformation across government and education accounts. This individual-contributor role blends data, AI strategy, and public-sector operating models to modernize data estates and deploy AI responsibly.

You will engage C-level leaders, shape secure data and AI roadmaps, and drive multi-year platform decisions while collaborating with product, engineering, and services

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience spanning enterprise technology, consulting, and public-sector transformation.
• Significant experience working in or with U.S. public-sector institutions.
• Direct experience in customer-facing pre-sales, technical strategy, architecture, or transformation leadership roles.
• Strong background in modern data architectures, including data engineering, analytics, governance, and AI/ML platforms.
• Experience with public cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with public-sector procurement realities and government budget cycles.
• U.S. citizenship required and active clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted-advisor relationships with C-level and mission leadership across public-sector accounts.
• Shape executive thinking on secure data and AI modernization and lakehouse architecture.
• Lead executive briefings, strategy sessions, and mission workshops aligning agency priorities with Databricks roadmaps.
• Engage with architects, engineers, analysts, and security stakeholders on design trade-offs.
• Translate customer needs into reference architectures, solution blueprints, and technical narratives.
• Collaborate with Account Executives, Solutions Architects, product teams, and partners on multi-year platform decisions.
• Provide feedback to Product, Engineering, and Field leadership on governance, security and interoperability needs.
• Mentor senior field engineers and codify playbooks for complex public-sector engagements.
• Represent Databricks externally at conferences, councils, and executive forums.
