Job summary

The New York City Police Department is seeking a skilled data scientist to join the Chief Analytics Officer’s team. You will conduct quantitative analyses, build automated reports, and interpret data for Department leadership, translating complex findings into actionable insights.

Responsibilities include pulling and analyzing data under tight timelines, creating clear visualizations, and communicating results to non-technical audiences. A strong background in Python, SQL and ML is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience coding in Python and SQL and building data-driven insights.
• Ability to develop metrics to measure business objectives and improve operations.
• Ability to develop data visualizations and business communications for leadership.
• Experience with unstructured data (text, geospatial, networks) is a plus.
• Experience with statistical and machine learning models (scikit-learn, statsmodels, PyTorch).
• Excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders and partners.
