Office of the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury in Mid-east Tennessee seeks a Legislative Auditor to evaluate local government operations and ensure accountability across public funds. The role conducts external audits, reviews records and statements, and reports findings with clarity to auditees and officials.

Travel is required within the region, with a strong emphasis on professional standards and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with at least 24 semester hours in accounting.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work with auditees and stakeholders.
• Ability to learn quickly and problem solve.
• Sound judgment in evaluating situations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct audits of state and local governmental entities in accordance with professional auditing standards.
• Examine and review records, reports, financial statements, and management practices.
• Evaluate financial statement presentation, internal controls, compliance, and operational efficiency.
• Produce clear, well-supported workpapers and data analyses.
• Communicate findings effectively with auditees, coworkers, officials, and stakeholders.
• Contribute to a collaborative team culture and seek continuous improvement.
