Job summary

The Tennessee Office of the Comptroller of the Treasury is seeking a Legislative Auditor to serve the Mid-east Tennessee region. You will perform external audits of state and local government entities to ensure accountability, transparency, and effective operations across publicly funded organizations.

You will conduct audits, review financial records, evaluate internal controls and compliance, and communicate findings with auditees and officials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with at least 24 semester hours in accounting.
• Ability to learn quickly, think critically, problem solve, and produce accurate work.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Location: Mid-east Tennessee (Putnam, Cumberland, White, Van Buren, Bledsoe, and Warren counties)

What We’re Looking For

Preferred:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license (not required but strongly encouraged for advancement)
• Experience in auditing, governmental accounting, or related fields

Logistics

Travel: For Local Government Auditors, travel is required but is generally confined to same day commutes to and from a job site. Overnight stays may be required, as necessary.
