Job summary

The Office of the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury offers a 10-week Local Government Audit Internship in the Mideast Tennessee Region for Summer 2027. The program provides hands-on audit experience, training, and professional development, with opportunities to network and tour the Tennessee Capitol.

Qualifications

Completed at least 6 credit hours of accounting coursework.
Preference for intermediate/advanced accounting classes.
Rising juniors/seniors or graduate accounting students.
Able to work independently and in a team; adaptable and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

Learn to examine and review records, reports, financial statements, and management practices for local government entities receiving public funds.
Assist in evaluating the fairness of financial statement presentation, internal controls, efficiency and effectiveness of operations, and compliance with laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements.
