Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Or a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with at least 15 accounting credits; substitution allowed with 15 accounting credits.
• Directly related work experience may be substituted for the formal education, on a year-for-year basis, plus 15 accounting credits from an accredited college.
• Preferred: experience in payroll and/or government accounting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, prepare, maintain, and reconcile accounting records, internal accounts, bank accounts, purchase orders, and general ledger transactions to support accurate financial reporting.
• Assist with financial analysis, account balancing, and audit preparation.
• Research and resolve discrepancies involving accounts payable, bank reconciliations, revenues, and expenditures.
• Review and process vendor and employee payments, monitor expenditures against approved budgets, and prepare payments as assigned.
• Use financial and business software to prepare reports, analyze data, track performance measures, and provide information to support management decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures, policies, forms, and recordkeeping practices.
• Communicate professionally with City employees, vendors, and the public to address questions and resolve financial or administrative matters.
• Help coordinate front office operations and support training of other employees.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with at least 15 accounting credits
