Job summary

City of Altamonte Springs seeks an Accountant I–III to organize, review and interpret financial records, process vendor payments, payroll, and financial reporting. The role supports grant reimbursements, budget input, and capital asset management in a government setting.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree in accounting or business and relevant fiscal experience; proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook is required. A valid driver license is expected as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in business or accounting required, plus one year fiscal experience.
• Three to four years of fiscal experience for higher levels, with proficiency in multiple areas: AR, AP, payroll, or financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Organize, maintain, review and interpret financial records; process vendor payments and deposits; assist in payroll.
• Prepare financial statements and reports; support in annual financial reporting and pension/fund reports.
• Assist with FEMA/grant reimbursements and capital assets; maintain capital asset records and depreciation.
• Maintain records for compliance with state record retention rules and assist in city budget processes.
• Review city-wide travel records, support bi-weekly payroll, and assist pension plan processing.
