City of Leesburg seeks an accounting professional responsible for general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This role supports budget preparation, reconciles accounts, and assists with annual CAFR preparation.
The position requires an associate degree in accounting and at least two years of accounting experience; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Valid Florida driver’s license is required.
This is a newly established position included in the FY 26–27 adopted budget, effective October 1, 2026.
The purpose of the class is to provide responsible accounting functions in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles. The class is responsible for accounting, disbursement, maintenance, review, interpretation, analysis and reconciliation of accounts within assigned area of responsibility. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.
Requires an associate’s degree with emphasis in accounting. A comparable amount of training, education and experience may be substituted for associate’s degree requirement. Requires two years or more of work experience in accounting.
Bachelor’s degree preferred. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for work experience requirement.
Requires a valid State of Florida driver license and a satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment.
