Job summary

City of Altamonte Springs is seeking Accountant I–III professionals to manage core accounting functions including receivables, payables, payroll, and financial reporting. The role supports the CAFR, pension reports, and grant reimbursements, under supervision.

The position requires proficiency in Excel/Word/Outlook and a valid Florida driver's license. Experience in public/government accounting is preferred, with a willingness to adopt AI and new tech.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with emphasis in business or accounting coursework plus 1 year of fiscal experience; proficiency in AR/AP/payroll or financial reporting.
• Proficiency in two of the four areas: AR, AP, payroll, or financial reporting for Accountant II; four years’ fiscal experience for Accountant III.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Maintain receivable accounts, process invoices for payment and journal entries.
• Process payroll and assist with citywide payroll processing.
• Prepare work papers, schedules, journal entries and reports for the CAFR and other finance/pension reports.
• Assist with FEMA and other grant reimbursements documentation.
• Act as Record Custodian and maintain state record retention compliance.
