State of Indiana is seeking an Accountant based at Chain O’Lakes Correctional Facility in Albion to process Accounts Payable and related funds using PeopleSoft. The role involves posting, reconciling, and preparing financial reports, with a salary starting at $37,648 and a comprehensive benefits package.

The position may be supervised and requires strong mathematical accuracy, in-depth knowledge of public and governmental accounting, and the ability to follow policies and procedures.

Formación

• Foundational knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of public accounting.
• Foundational knowledge of agency function and organization.
• Foundational knowledge of governmental accounting and bookkeeping laws, procedures, practices and policies.
• Foundational knowledge of automated accounting systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to solve standard accounting problems.
• Ability to evaluate and modify accounting methods and procedures.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations accurately.
• Ability to prepare clear, concise reports.

Responsabilidades

• Post transactions to ledgers and accounts.
• Verify accuracy of financial documents and records.
• Reconcile accounts and subsidiary ledgers with the general ledger.
• Prepare, correct, and adjust entries prior to closing accounts.
• Prepare periodic financial reports (balance sheets, income statements).
• Ensure funds availability before authorizing payments to State Auditor’s Office.
• Prepare, edit, and verify electronic data processing entries/documents.
• Recommend changes in accounting policies and assist in developing procedures.
