Job summary

Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS) seeks a Security and Public Safety Officer to oversee a multi‑million dollar security service contract, manage staff across 13 facilities, and ensure safety protocols are enforced 24/7. The role is the central liaison for contract compliance and incident responses.

The candidate will generate analytical security reports and safeguard staff, customers, and infrastructure while coordinating with agency teams.

Qualifications

• Crisis intervention experience is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Experience as a certified law enforcement officer is preferred.
• Experience monitoring and enforcing contractual obligations with partners is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee security guard vendor contract compliance and act as liaison between agency and vendor.
• Manage staffing levels and coverage across all facilities, addressing gaps to prevent vulnerabilities.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Finance to ensure deliverables, reports, and forms meet contract requirements and regulatory standards.
• Conduct regular physical security assessments and report hazards for immediate remediation.
