Job summary

The NC State Highway Patrol is seeking an Electronics Technician II for the Troop B Radio Shop to maintain, program, troubleshoot, and repair complex telecommunications systems and equipment that support statewide public safety operations.

Based in Clarkton, NC, the role entails working Monday–Friday with a focus on transceivers, MDCs, radar, base stations, and related networked systems to ensure reliable communications for law enforcement activities.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in electronics plus two years of progressive experience in repair and maintenance of complex electronic systems.
• High school diploma or GED plus four years of progressive experience in repair and maintenance of complex electronic systems.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, program, and test fixed, mobile, and portable transceivers and repeaters across multiple frequency bands.
• Program and configure Mobile Data Computers (MDC) and integrate with transceivers, modems, GPS, and power in vehicles.
• Install, maintain, certify radar and speed timing equipment and testify in court when required.
• Install, program, align and maintain base station telecommunications equipment, antennas, towers, and emergency power systems.
• Install, troubleshoot and repair mobile video recording systems and related components.
• Maintain communications center control consoles and digital signal routing systems.
