Job summary

The County of Riverside’s Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Radio Communications Supervisor (IT Supervising Communications Technician) to oversee field staff responsible for planning, installing, testing, maintaining, and repairing public safety communication equipment and remote shelter infrastructure.

The incumbent will work with vendors, schedule maintenance, review invoices, and manage field deployments of critical communications assets; travel to remote sites will be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT-related field or equivalent.
• Four years of journey-level radio communications experience with two years in supervisory/lead duties.
• Knowledge of IT devices, networks, documentation, and administration.
• Ability to supervise staff and manage vendors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, assign, review, and evaluate staff performing IT-related work and develop competencies.
• Install and configure radio, computer, and network equipment in vehicles and sites.
• Coordinate system upgrades, document changes, and train users on equipment and networks.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in equipment and networks; diagnose network issues.
• Administer enterprise network applications and coordinate with vendors for services.
• Plan and oversee installation of systems, estimate costs, and prepare reports.
