Job summary

Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority (LMH) seeks a seasoned leader to oversee the Public Safety Department, directing field operations, incident reporting, and safety training. The role ensures security systems, building access controls, and efficient information flow across all LMH developments.

You will supervise patrol officers and security staff, liaise with residents and law enforcement, and coordinate training and certifications under the VP of Public Safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current Ohio Peace Officer certification or recertification within one year required.
• Minimum five years as safety/security trainer/administrator and five years in a law enforcement community oriented role.
• Knowledge of security equipment and safety systems for protection of persons and property.
• Valid Ohio or Michigan driver’s license; insurable under LMH plan.
• On-call 24 hours with mandated cell-phone availability for LMH matters.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Public Safety Field Operations Leads and staff, including planning, evaluating, and disciplining as needed.
• Manage building access controls and security alarm systems; oversee keys, fobs, and security cards.
• Ensure accurate reporting and secure information flow (incident reports, statistics, requests).
• Oversee security vehicle fleet, maintenance, and records in coordination with Purchasing.
• Maintain safety training updates, certifications, and officer training needs.
• Serve as liaison between residents and staff on safety/security matters; act as Community Resource Officer.
