Job summary

Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority seeks a hands-on Public Safety Manager to provide administrative oversight, leadership, and supervision of the LMH Public Safety Department. You will oversee building access controls, alarm systems, incident reporting, and field operations coordination under the VPPS to safeguard residents and staff.

The role requires five years in safety/security leadership and a valid driver’s license, with Ohio Peace Officer certification; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Current Ohio Peace Officer certification or recertification within one year required.
• Minimum five years of experience as a safety/security trainer or administrator and five years in a law enforcement community-oriented position.
• Must possess a valid Ohio or Michigan driver’s license and be insurable under the agency’s plan.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Public Safety Field Operations Leads and PMPO/USSO staff, including planning, assigning, and evaluating work.
• Maintain security controls for building access and alarm systems; manage keys, fobs, and security cards.
• Ensure accurate reporting and documentation; supervise training and reduce liability.
• Coordinate records management, incident reporting, and safety communications; act as liaison with residents and staff.
• Provide safety training updates and oversee officer training needs and certifications.
