Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a full-time Security Officer fornard night shifts at Arnett Hospital. The role focuses on patrols, incident response, and enforcing hospital rules to maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid Indiana driver’s license, and the ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and a psychological exam. NCIC/IDACS certification will be pursued as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years of relevant security experience preferred.
• Current non-restricted Indiana Driver's License required.
• Background check, drug screen and psychological evaluation required.
• Must be able to obtain NCIC/IDACS certification and access.
• No felony, domestic violence, or violent misdemeanor convictions.

Overview

Schedule: Full-Time Night Shift (6pm - 6am)

Department Supported: Public Safety

Work Location: Arnett Hospital

Primary Responsibilities

Conducts rounding and foot and vehicle patrols in and around properties that are owned, leased or occupied by IU Health. Responds to calls for service. Enforces and assists in the enforcement of IU Health rules, regulations and policies. Provides direction and guidance to team members, guests and patients. Assists teams with de‑escalating tense, uncertain and emotional situations. Investigates criminal activity and vehicle crashes as needed. Maintains records and logs and completes written reports as required. Performs physical security screening as required. Creates a safe healthcare environment for team members, patients and guests. Performs other duties as assigned by the chain of command.

Candidate requirements

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Requires 0-2 years of relevant experience.
• Requires current non-restricted Indiana Driver's License.
• Must not have convictions for felony, domestic violence or violent misdemeanor offenses.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background investigation, drug screening and psychological exam.
• Requires working knowledge of computers and various software programs.
• Must be able to obtain NCIC/IDACS certification and access.
• Have never had law enforcement officer license denied by final order or revoked.
• Not currently on suspension or have a voluntary surrender of a law enforcement license currently in effect.

Candidate preferred

• Associate's Degree is preferred.
