Job description

To provide service and information to students, employees, and visitors; to enforce the rules and regulations of the U.T. System Administration or an institution of The University of Texas System; and to help safeguard property of the U.T. System Administration or an institution of The University of Texas System.

Physical Activities and Conditions:

• Involves driving, walking, running, standing, stooping, climbing, crouching, pushing, jumping over, pulling, carrying, reaching above head, lifting, lowering, hand-wrist and elbow motion, grasping, and holding.
• Must be able to lift 40 to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Requires physical and mental capabilities to carry out responsibilities as a Public Safety Officer.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible to drive University vehicles.
• Must pass a thorough background investigation and be able to provide credible testimony in court.
• Work conditions include exposure to variable weather and shifts on any day, including holidays, with some hazards involved.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Graduation from high school, vocational school, or equivalent.
• Valid Texas Driver's license.
• Physical and mental ability to perform duties as a guard.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide service to students and employees.
2. Direct traffic flow and parking when needed.
3. Patrol buildings and grounds for hazards, fire, water leaks, and security issues, reporting irregularities and emergencies.
4. Assist visitors with directions and general information.
5. Patrol on foot or vehicle to ensure security and prevent crime.
6. Lock and unlock buildings, assist motorists, and help authorized personnel with building access.
7. Perform other related duties as required.

Additional Information:

A remote work schedule is not available for this position.
