The Public Safety Officer at BMC South plays a critical role in promoting a safe, welcoming, and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Officers provide high-visibility uniformed patrols, respond to calls for service, and support clinical operations across all inpatient, outpatient, administrative, parking, and public areas of the BMC South campus. Officers are expected to deliver exceptional customer service while preventing, responding to, and mitigating safety and security risks.
As part of the BMC Department of Public Safety, Officers support a wide range of services—including emergency response, behavioral health support, access control, parking and transportation functions, and dispatch operations. Officers are responsible for ensuring consistent adherence to departmental policies, maintaining operational readiness, and upholding the Medical Center’s mission and core values in every interaction.
The Public Safety Officer at BMC South plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Working both independently and as part of a team, the Officer provides high-visibility patrols, responds to emergencies and behavioral health incidents, supports clinical operations, manages access control, and delivers exceptional customer service across the campus. The Officer is responsible for identifying and mitigating safety risks, conducting preliminary investigations, documenting incidents, and assisting with hospital operations in alignment with departmental policies. This position is essential to ensuring a consistent and professional safety presence that supports the mission, values, and therapeutic environment of BMC South.
