Job summary

Indiana University Public Safety is hiring for a leadership role within the IU Police Department. The position involves supervising sergeants, officers, and civilians, and assuming scene command during critical incidents on campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field with 5 years of law enforcement experience including 1 year in leadership.
• High school diploma with 8 years of law enforcement experience including 1 year in leadership.
• Possesses a valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Indiana University on date of hire.
• ILETB Certified Instructor Training and ILEA certification preferred on hire.
• Current and ongoing certification in CPR, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens and related university courses on hire.

Responsibilities

• Acts as shift commander and supervises sergeants, officers and civilian personnel; assigns work and trains staff.
• Responds to calls for assistance and assumes scene command of critical incidents.
• Acts as departmental resource for operations and policies; communicates changes to personnel.
• Compiles data, prepares reports and analyses; ensures compliance with laws and policies.
• Assesses plans and deployments; maintains standard operating procedures.
• Performs duties of patrol officer as needed and may supervise specific details.
