Job summary

IU Health is seeking a full-time Public Safety professional at Bloomington Hospital to conduct patrols, respond to calls, and enforce policies. The role supervises staff, coordinates shift coverage, and supports other agencies in critical incidents.

The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED with 5 years of law enforcement experience or an Associate's degree with 3 years of experience, plus Indiana driver’s license and NCIC/IDACS certification.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and five years of law enforcement experience, or an Associate's degree with three years of law enforcement experience.
• Must hold a non-restricted Indiana Driver's License.
• Must complete NCIC/IDACS certification and access.
• No felony, domestic violence, or violent misdemeanor convictions.
• Must pass pre-employment background, drug screen and psychological exam.
• Working knowledge of computers and various software programs.
• Must not have had a law enforcement license denied or revoked.
• Not currently suspended or surrendered.

Responsibilities

• Conducts rounding and patrols in IU Health properties.
• Responds to calls for service and enforces IU Health rules.
• Provides direction and guidance to team members, guests, and patients; de-escalates tense situations.
• Investigates criminal activity and vehicle crashes as needed.
• Maintains records and writes required reports.
• Oversees shift operations and supervises officers; assigns work.
• Assists other public safety agencies and assumes on-scene command when needed.
