Job summary

City of Plantation is seeking an IT Systems Manager to lead the Police Department's technology strategy and operations. You will supervise staff, oversee budgets, and drive secure, resilient IT services for emergency response and investigations.

The role requires expertise in public safety systems, CJIS security, project management, and vendor negotiations. You will collaborate with the IT Director and command staff to ensure mission-critical uptime and compliant technology infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field.
• Five (5) years of professional experience managing and supporting enterprise-level information technology systems and services.
• Three (3) years of supervisory or management experience.
• Three (3) years of experience administering public safety communications, E-911 systems, and law enforcement data systems.
• Must obtain ITIL Foundation certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Directs, supervises and evaluates IT staff supporting Police Department operations.
• Develops and implements short- and long-term technology strategic plans aligning with goals.
• Administers technology policies, standards and guidelines.
• Manages Police Department technology budgets and assists with purchasing decisions.
• Develops and manages RFPs, technical specifications and vendor evaluations.
• Manages technology vendors, maintenance agreements, warranties and software licenses.
• Presents technology recommendations and project updates to the IT Director and command staff.
• Coordinates audits and corrective actions for identified issues.
• Ensures high availability of mission-critical systems supporting 24-hour operations.
• Develops project schedules, allocates resources and oversees projects within budgets.
• Monitors systems to identify performance and reliability issues.
• Resolves technology-related problems and coordinates resources as needed.
