Job summary

The City of Plantation, Florida, is seeking an IT Systems Manager to lead the Police Department's technology services, ensuring secure, reliable operations and resilience for emergency response and investigations.

The role directs IT staff, builds strategic plans, manages budgets, and interfaces with command staff on public safety technology initiatives while complying with CJIS, CALEA, and local policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or closely related field.
• Five (5) years of professional experience managing and supporting enterprise-level information technology systems and services.
• Three (3) years of supervisory or management experience.
• Three (3) years of experience administering public safety communications, E-911 systems, and law enforcement data systems.
• Experience supporting mission-critical enterprise technology environments.
• Strong project management, budgeting, and vendor negotiation skills.
• Must successfully obtain an ITIL Foundation certification in the current version within one (1) year of the date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Directs, supervises and evaluates Information Technology staff supporting Police Department operations.
• Develops and implements short- and long-term technology strategic plans that align with departmental goals and operational requirements.
• Administers technology policies, standards, procedures and operational guidelines.
• Manages the preparation and administration of Police Department technology budgets and assists with technology-related purchasing decisions.
• Develops and manages Requests for Proposals (RFPs), technical specifications, contracts and vendor evaluations for technology products and services.
