Job summary

Boulder County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Computing Specialist II to design, install, troubleshoot, and manage complex public-safety tech across offices, jail, dispatch, and field operations. The role includes supporting MDCs, mobile connectivity, and endpoint management to ensure reliable operations for public safety teams.

New hires receive an 80-hour vacation bank at hire, plus ongoing monthly accruals for vacation and medical leave.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise computing environments and public-safety tech.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• Experience with mobile data computers (MDCs) and endpoint management.
• Knowledge of Active Directory, security configurations, and policies.

Responsibilities

• Analyses technology needs across admin, law enforcement, jail, dispatch, and field ops and recommends hardware, software and connectivity solutions.
• Installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots MDCs and related hardware and software.
• Develops and supports standardized images and configurations for Sheriff’s Office devices.
• Manages mobile device management, security policies, updates, and device replacement.
• Supports mobility platforms including NetMotion/Absolute, CradlePoint, FirstNet and Wi-Fi connectivity.
• Configures mobile networking equipment and remote connectivity solutions for field personnel.
• Assists with planning and maintenance of technology in Sheriff’s vehicles and field locations.
• Supports body-worn camera and in-car tech; coordinates with IT and vendors.
• Administers Active Directory, permissions, authentication and group policies.
• Performs testing and deployment procedures to minimize operational disruption.
