Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED required.
• Strong customer-relations skills and ability to work under high-stress situations.
• Ability to multitask, given the complexity of work responsibilities.
• Excellent verbal and writing skills.
• Must be CPR certified; CPR instruction and certification will be provided if not already certified.
• Must pass CJIS Operator certification within the first 30 days of employment.
• Must achieve APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator 1 certification within six months, and NAED Emergency Medical Dispatch.
• Ability to learn CAD/Records Management System, CJIS terminal, alarm monitoring systems, access control, and other computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls for police service and manage police radio calls.
• Handle telephone calls and walk-in requests for service, including emergencies.
• Dispatch Tufts police and security personnel and coordinate incident response.
• Coordinate radio calls with outside agencies when required.
• Enter calls and incidents into CAD and track records.
• Monitor alarm and access control events and dispatch staff accordingly.
• Maintain logs and perform clerical tasks as needed.
