Job summary

The Tufts Department of Public Safety (DPS) seeks a Dispatcher I to answer calls, manage police radio, and dispatch responses on the Medford campus. The role involves handling sensitive information and coordinating with the university alert system.

Candidates should multitask under stress, pass CJIS and APCO/NAED certifications, and maintain accurate CAD logs and access-control records. A strong commitment to service is essential.

Qualifications

• Must pass CJIS and medical/psychological exams.
• Ability to type and operate multiple computerized systems.
• Willingness to obtain APCO and NAED certifications within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls for police service and manage radio communications.
• Dispatch Tufts police and security to calls and coordinate incident response.
• Record and log incidents, maintain notices and logs in CAD.
• Monitor alarms and access control events and dispatch staff accordingly.
• Handle inquiries from the public and university community.
• Coordinate with external agencies as needed.
