Job summary

The Borough is seeking a dedicated Public Safety Dispatcher to join our emergency communications team. You will answer and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical resources, and document incidents with precision in CAD systems.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, 45 WPM typing, and APCO certification within a year, with six months of related experience preferred. Join a team focused on safety, accuracy, and rapid response.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months of related public safety, dispatch, corrections, security, emergency services, customer service, or records experience preferred.
• Ability to type at least 45 words per minute.
• Must obtain APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator certification within twelve months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Answers emergency and non-emergency calls, prioritizes and dispatches resources.
• Maintains dispatch logs and records in CAD; coordinates notifications and mutual aid.
• Monitors radio channels and responder welfare; ensures accuracy of incident data and updates.
• Adapts communication for people in crisis or with limited English proficiency; adheres to written directives.
