Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher to provide essential dispatch communications between the dispatch center, officers, department personnel, and outside agencies, while maintaining records and upholding hospital standards. The role is full-time with 12-hour shifts, onsite at Akron Main.

The position requires 18+ years old, a high school diploma or equivalent, and dispatch certifications or two years of dispatch experience with certification within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Have one or more 9-1-1 Dispatcher Certifications or two years of dispatch experience with certification within 90 days.
• LEADS operator certification within 60 days of hire.
• Pass background check and psychological fitness evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Handle police dispatcher duties.
• Operate computers and standard office equipment; use typical software.
• Work under pressure and communicate effectively with distressed individuals.
• Monitor cameras and alarm systems.
• Perform other duties as directed by Dispatch Supervisor or Command Staff.
