Job summary

City of Aurora operates an Aurora911 emergency communications center, seeking an experienced supervisor to lead a team of 9-1-1 professionals. The role focuses on coordinating public safety dispatch services, staff training, and maintaining high standards in emergency response.

Responsibilities include scheduling, policy guidance, and ensuring operational continuity across shifts while working with police, fire, and EMS partners. A strong background in public safety communications is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Complete Aurora911 Basic Training Program with necessary certifications (CCIC/NCIC, CPR/First Aid, EMD etc).
• Three years of experience in a 911 Public Safety Communications Center; one year as lead worker or trainer.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and review work of assigned staff; provide training and develop competencies.
• Establish schedules for 24-hour operations; ensure service levels and performance standards.
• Provide leadership and guidance to Aurora911 staff; participate in policy development and resource allocation.
• Operate and maintain CAD and dispatch equipment; generate reports and troubleshoot issues.
• Respond to citizen inquiries and coordinate with partner agencies to ensure effective public safety communications.
• Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation.
