Job summary

The City of Missoula Police Department is seeking a Police Support Specialist - Desk Call-In to join as a part-time on-call team member. You will answer calls, document incidents, maintain records, and support officers and partner agencies while providing courteous service to residents.

The position requires flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays, with a starting hourly wage of $22.86–$25.12 and a full range up to $26.63.

Qualifications

• Two years of administrative support experience with significant public contact.
• Must pass a Police background investigation and sign confidentiality.
• Ability to obtain notary certification and maintain court documents.
• Ability to learn and interpret local, state, and federal regulations, including the Montana Code Annotated.
• Ability to learn City and departmental policies and record-keeping procedures.
• Comfort with learning new technology and handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Answer department calls, determine emergency vs non-emergency, and direct to appropriate personnel.
• Gather information to complete concise police incident and case reports.
• Process incoming police and accident reports and merge into records system per NIBRS.
• Data entry into department software and spreadsheets to maintain records.
• Prepare reports for court activities and monthly reports to Montana and FBI.
• Enter information into NCIC/CJIN databases and relay to authorized personnel.
• Monthly validations of NCIC/CJIN entries and update records as needed.
• Accept and record payments for departmental services.
• Monitor holding cells, doors, alarms, and cameras; extract video for investigations.
• Emergency callouts after hours.
• Receive and log evidence and property.
• Maintain records for bi-annual audits by DoJ and FBI CJIS.
• Provide administrative support to customers and City personnel.
