Job summary

The City of Aurora is seeking a Crime Analyst to identify crime patterns and support law enforcement with data-driven decisions. You will analyze data, prepare maps and dashboards, and present actionable findings to police leadership and partners.

Responsibilities include querying multiple databases, building reports, and delivering real-time insights. A background in statistics or data science plus two years in crime analysis is preferred. Colorado location; competitive benefits.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field with coursework in crime analysis, research methods, and statistics.
Two years of experience as a crime or intelligence analyst at a municipal police department, sheriff’s office, or federal agency.
Technical skills with data, relational databases, software and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Identify crime patterns and trends to assist police with apprehension and prevention.
Use Excel macros or similar tools to analyze, format, and present crime data.
Query RMS/NCIC/CCIC, Accurint, Lumen, Linx and other databases to collect data for reports.
Prepare real-time analyses and monthly summaries; create maps, graphs and charts.
Prepare PowerPoint presentations and other visuals for investigations and reports.
Maintain data integrity and resolve discrepancies.
