State of Louisiana is seeking a Communications Officer to receive, document, and transmit critical information in a high‑volume center supporting law enforcement. The role requires precise data entry, rapid prioritization, and effective communication with officers and the public.

The position offers a probationary appointment with rotating 12‑hour shifts (days and nights). Applicants must meet NCIC certification guidelines and maintain records accurately.

Qualifications

  • Six months of experience transmitting and receiving messages by radio or in administrative services.
  • Six months of training in a business or clerical curriculum in a business school or technical institute.
  • Fifteen semester hours of college training.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and respond to officer/agent information requests.
  • Receive, analyze, prioritize, and respond to general public inquiries and complaints; alert officers and dispatch as needed.
  • Search, enter, modify, and delete records in the appropriate computer databases (vehicle registrations, licenses, wanted persons, etc.).
  • Maintain logs and documentation during communications.
