The University of Maryland, Baltimore Department of Police and Public Safety is seeking a Police Communications Operator (PCO) to support emergency dispatch and central communications. You will operate multiple communications systems and coordinate with field officers to ensure rapid response and safety.

The ideal candidate has clerical experience, the ability to learn emergency procedures, and a commitment to accuracy, calm decision-making, and clear written and spoken communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of clerical or related experience.
• Ability to learn emergency communications procedures and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate emergency telephones, two-way radios, teletype, and computer terminals.
• Answer emergency lines and dispatch officers.
• Maintain logs and prepare reports.
• Relay information to field personnel and other agencies.
• Monitor radio frequencies and maintain equipment.
