Job summary

Georgetown University Police Department Communications Center coordinates emergency and non-emergency response for the Georgetown community. Communications Specialists answer calls, dispatch officers, monitor alarms and CCTV, and assist the public at a walk-up window with a calm, professional demeanor.

The role requires multi-tasking under stress, APCO and FEMA certifications, and the ability to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends to support campus safety operations.

Qualifications

  • Must have strong communication skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must pass a written test, drug test, medical exam, and comprehensive background check.
  • Must become certified and maintain NCIC/WALES certification.
  • APCO certifications and FEMA Incident Command training are required.

Responsibilities

  • Answer emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
  • Dispatch police and EMS, monitor alarm systems.
  • Provide information and customer service to the university community.
  • Dispatch officers and monitor CCTV and fire alarm systems.
  • Work shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
