Job summary
The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking an experienced Community Code Enforcement Officer to enforce the Town’s Municipal Code and Land Management Ordinance relating to environmental, public safety, health, sanitation, and other general regulations. The role includes receiving complaints, inspecting properties, posting notices, investigating violations, and assisting in prosecutions in Magistrate court.
Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma or equivalent, three years of related
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; and three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Driver’s license
Responsibilities
- Receive and respond to citizen complaints regarding violations of Town zoning, Land Management Ordinances and related municipal codes and ordinances
- Inspect and patrol beaches, parks, and properties to ensure compliance with Town Municipal Code and Land Management ordinance
- Conduct field investigations; inspect properties for violations; issue and post warning notices and notices of violation
- Investigate violations and determine remediation steps by applying the Municipal Code
- Assist Town Prosecutor in preparing cases for prosecution in Magistrate court
