Job summary

The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking an experienced Stormwater Inspector to conduct field inspections and collect data on storm water infrastructure, pollutants, and construction activities.

Responsibilities include inspecting construction sites for runoff and sediment controls, investigating illicit discharges into the MS4, preparing reports on spills and containment, inspecting storm water outfalls and CRS channels, and maintaining inspection databases with Asset Management software.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent with 5 years related experience in storm drainage construction and inspection.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • CEPSSCI certification within 1 year of employment; Post-Construction BMP Inspector within 6 months.

  • Collects inventory data on storm drainage infrastructure.
  • Provides input data into Asset Management software

Join Our Team as the Stormwater Inspector

The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking an experienced and visionary Stormwater Inspector to field inspections and data collection related to storm water infrastructure, pollutants, and construction.

What You Wil Do
  • Performs and documents inspections of construction sites for storm water runoff/erosion and sediment controls;
  • Responds to and investigates reports of illicit discharges into the MS4;
  • Acts in response to spills and leaks into the MS4 and prepares detailed reports of containment activities;
  • Performs inspections of storm water outfalls and MS4 owned or maintained control structures;
  • Performs annual and storm event-based inspections of FEMA critical CRS channels;
  • Performs inspections to support the MS4 Pollution Prevention/Good Housekeeping program
  • Maintains a database of inspections and prepares reports;
  • Collects inventory data on storm drainage infrastructure;

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of related experience with some experience in storm drainage construction and inspection; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI) within one year of employment
  • Certified Post-Construction BMP Inspector (or obtain within 6 months); and
